Wrotar Painting

Wrotar is a large abstract artwork with influence drawn from the likes of Jackson Pollock and Cy Twombly. Wrotar explores the gestural concept of writing and calligraphy, in a loose abstract way. The circular repetitive nature of the design and the overlapping competition of the white and black "text" is a reflection of miscommunication and misunderstanding. My absolute favourite colour combination is Red, Black, and White, and I'm really satisfied with the way this piece has turned out. The technique may appear simple, but contrary to that initial perception, I have used multiple layers, and techniques to get the balance between loose style, and control. The painting itself has been painted on a high-quality Eraldo do Paulo canvas stretched onto frame and stretcher bars. I have used artist-grade acrylic paints. I have continued painting over the sides of the canvas so that it can be hung with or without a frame. The painting has been finished with several layers of matte varnish to bring out the colours and to add protection.
