Born in Spain in 1961, Javier Mayoral emigrated to the United States at the age of 28, then moved to Miami in 2004, where he now lives and works. This self-taught painter worked in various jobs, including chef, advertising illustrator, and dealer in erotic photographs, before spreading his art of living through small acrylic paintings on wood, inspired by the tradition of Mexican ex-votos and 20th-century popular culture. Between ultra-lounge parties, surreal barbecues, torrid encounters, and improbable road trips, a whole gallery of indescribable characters parade before us, most often flanked by their equally priceless pets. In a series of comical scenes, the average American raves about the joys of modern comfort, desperate housewives converse with Jean-Paul Sartre, and the King himself comes to bless the suburban suburbs. A prolific artist, Javier Mayoral is said to have produced more than ten thousand paintings since 2007! Initially intended to cheer up those around him, his works have been featured in several exhibitions in Germany since 2013, following the publication of a book by Lappanart. With the arrival in 2015 of Pulpbrother, the artist's alter ego on social media, his daily vignettes have gone viral, bringing his colorful world to the attention of audiences around the globe.
