About The Artwork
"Yarmuk" is the second painting from the series "Journey sto the Unknown" which depicts the destructive situation in the Middle East after the Arab Spring. Many cities were destroyed in the riots and civil wars, this caused a massive movement of masses, formation of huge refugee camps around the warzones and was the starting point of the flight of large groups of refugees across the Mediterranean Sea towards Europe. From an observing and documentating point of view as an artist I wanted to understand and record the historical event with the aid of the medium painting.
