Andy James White is an artist who is based in Los Angeles ,CA. Originally born in NYC and raised in New Jersey. Always having a passion for music and art he began experimenting with painting , drawing, and photography. As a skateboarder in his early teens he was influenced by the artwork done on the skate decks by the pro skaters like Neil Blender, Chris Miller ,Dogtown and Mark Gonzales to name a few. Punk rock and hardcore music came with the skateboarding and that’s was the next phase of influence that came from by going to CBGB’s hardcore matinees and being engulfed with all the graffiti in NYC. The next several years were spent as a graffiti writer in NJ and NYC. When most artists were in a school, he was learning the fine art of graffiti from his mentors in NYC. Over the years his appreciation for many of the greats expanded (Matisse, Dali, Pollock, Van Gogh, Picasso and many more). Once music had taken a backseat his art flourished and grew. Painting using all kinds of mediums and many styles of drawings. He has done several group shows and has had a solo show as well. Artists Statement- My artwork usually is influenced by my interests at the time and my daily meditations. Sometimes it is a mix of both. My feelings, thoughts, emotions and dreams are expressed on a canvas using many mediums. I have always loved a creative outlet to express myself and feel it is a necessity in life. To be able to go inside yourself and pull out a creative result that never existed before leaves me feeling happy. I continue to evolve and grow in life as so does my art.
