About The Artwork

Yellow No.1" is intended to be a vibrant and visually captivating painting that showcases a thoughtful exploration of color and form. The canvas is dominated by a warm and inviting yellow hue, creating a lively and energetic atmosphere. At the center of the composition, four distinct circles draw the viewer's attention. Two of the circles are a calming shade of blue, creating a sense of balance and contrast against the lively yellow backdrop. Another circle, smaller in size, stands out with its rich burgundy color, adding depth and intensity to the overall composition. The fourth circle, in a refreshing green hue, introduces a touch of nature and complements the other colors. Surrounding these circles are red leaf-like shapes, which add a dynamic and organic quality to the painting. The choice of red against the yellow background creates a striking visual contrast, enhancing the overall impact of the painting. "Yellow No.1" can be interpreted as an experimental piece, where the artist plays with different colors and forms. The deliberate arrangement of circles and leaf-like shapes suggests a thoughtful exploration of balance, harmony, and visual dynamics. The juxtaposition of warm and cool tones, along with the interaction of shapes, creates a visually stimulating and emotionally engaging experience for the viewer. Overall, the painting invites contemplation and appreciation for the intricate relationships between color and form on the canvas.

I am a Swiss artist from the region of Fribourg, Western Switzerland. The cubist representation of urban and industrial subjects in the artworks of the American painters Charles Sheeler, Charles Demuth and partially Edward Hopper, influenced me a lot at the time, making me approach this artistic style. Since then the city and nature, in all its forms, remains a great source of inspiration for me. Through my artworks, I exploit the figurative and graphic style close to abstraction but also realism. Oil paint is the essential material I use for my creations, in some cases I use other media and techniques such as acrylic, ink, charcoal, collage and screen printing.
