Yellow Red Abstract - "The Intensity of Soul" - Abstract Expressionism Painting

The Intensity of Soul glows from within illuminating particles of matter as they float upward in an undefined space. There is a mysterious aura that speaks to the intuitive mind, yet eludes rational thinking. It is one of these paintings that is difficult to describe. The canvas is lightly textured with silica sand and gesso which adds a materiality to the ethereal atmosphere. "I paint two styles of work – multicolor and monochrome. The multicolors resemble light phenomena seen in nature – a brightening sunrise, burning flame, brilliant aurora, light rays breaking through a forest. In contrast to these vivid images, the monochromes express subtler qualities of light – a shimmering milky way, dust particles catching sunlight, glow of moonlight on a grassy field. Both the monochromes and multicolors are wholly abstract; void of identifiable subject matter, concepts, symbols or themes. They do not burden viewers with intellectual analysis and can be simply enjoyed for their color and light." Canadian art critic John K.
