About The Artwork

I was studying one of my favorite abstract expressionist Cy Twombly, and I wanted to push his ideas of painting to another level. A 3-D level....I want the abstract painting to came at ones eyes and off the canvas. Currently I am working with children's toys that I find at the second hand store and play with them visual on a 2D surface.

The function of art is to evoke an emotional or intellectual response in the viewer. My goal as an artist has always been to give the viewer something to react to emotionally.Granted, there are easy ways to create emotion in one's work. Shocking the viewer is the easiest way to create an emotion. But I have always been looking for ways to invite the viewer to find more than just the obvious. I want them to experience something different each time they view my work.
