“To paint, to create art, to lose myself in the moment.....that is what drives me, thrills me. To put down my brush and stand back and say, Yes!, it has been a good day”. Ms. Schlegel has received the distinction of 'Invitée d'Honneur' and 'Artiste d'Honneur' of Antibes, France. She has been awarded 'Artiste en Residence' six times ... and has been given the opportunity to live and work in the beautiful Villa Fontaine situated in the quaint, historic section of Safranier, Antibes, France. Ms. Schlegel is currently painting and exhibiting her paintings in her new studio and art gallery - The MONTEREY. In 2017, Ms. Schlegel exhibited her 'Music Series' in Galerie des Bains Douches, Antibes, France. She had a solo exhibition of these paintings, in the beautiful Palais des Congrés in Juan-les-Pins, France. These exhibitions were curated and hung by the PICASSO MUSEUM, Antibes, France. Ms. Schlegel has been invited for her seventh residency in Antibes, France for 2020. The 'Music Series', the collection of paintings of musical instruments, will be installed in the new to be built 'Conservatoire de Musique et d'Art Dramatique d'Antibes Juan-les-Pins' scheduled to open in September, 2020. Ms. Schlegel was awarded a solo exhibition 'The Pleasures of Life' at Penn State University, September - October 2016. Ms. Schlegel is the recipient of the Arts Ovation Award for outstanding achievement in the visual arts with special recognition by the Pennsylvania State Senate and the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. Her Musikfest 20th Anniversary poster received the Gold Addy Award.
