ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Pursuit of my work is naturalness and freedom rather than factitiousness. My works are demonstrated freely by various lines, pieces of memories and unconsciously featured images. I use diverse materials without any constraint such as paper, canvas, wood, plastic and even metal.

Isabella Ko was born in south korea and having been educated with a bachelor and master’s degree of communication design from EWHA WOMAN’S UNIVERSITY of Korea. She studied art in the united states at the Otis Parsons school of Design(B.F.A) as well. Also, she educated art student for more than15 years at MUNGJI University while managing an art career for herself. Bella’s work has influenced both korean and American culture. Her art works are demonstrated freely by various lines, pieces of memories, and unconsciously featured images. Those elements show off it’s individuality by connecting to one another and sometimes flowing down but finally they reunite into one image which she intended. She uses diverse materials without any constraint such as paper(korean paper, oiled paper, recycled paper) canvas , wood, plastic, and even metal. Before her, anything which has its own features turns into natural image with individual stories. Also, lines which are diversified by changing the thickness and intensity of the shade are reconstructed as layers through collage or other various ways of expression. As the phrase 'separate but together' means, people might experience the synergy as a whole made by each one's individualities and they might also encounter the interesting effects created by a different style formed by their own energy. The philosophy behind her art works is defining beauty as naturalness and freedom rather than factitiousness.
