ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Sometimes being constrained forces you to escape in your mind to colorful exotic places. This work whilst exploring the patterns of nature is a stand out work in my current exhibition, Make-believe. Completed whilst in a 100day covid lockdown, this work takes me on a visual journey via memories to other times and places. In this vibrant work I wanted to impose a strong visual impact on the viewer, through which to encourage reflection and offer ultimately a pathway to a heightened sense joy.

I love to experiment in my process of painting, exploring opposites like the spontaneous mark alongside the deliberate, dark colours contrasted with fluorescent pigments, masses of colour juxtaposed with fine ribbons or scribbles of paint. Compositions that offer no clear connection to reality or meaning, rather present explorations of painting compositions that may stimulate memories and create pathways to the imagination.
