Painting: Oil on Paper, Plastic and Other.

This work is a series that redefines the labor of painting as something mass-produced and pragmatic by eliminating the autonomous aspect of the art and the intimate relationship of a painting and the painter. The paintings will be presented in plastic packaging and customized barcode price tags. it mimics legendary flower paintings into something that you would easily purchase in a supermarket.

As a whole, the series is an interplay between spending and saving by mimicking a supermarket like setting - almost manipulating them with the appeal of commodity possession.
The artworks aim to trigger the audience's contradiction between acquisitiveness and asceticism, valuable sentiments vs mere objects. While the emphasis on the price tags becomes an exclusion for the audience to have a say in assessing the painting’s value. Convincing them to submit to a fixed capitalist exchange.

As an artist, I work mostly with acrylic painting with low saturated colors, maintaining a soft and calm aesthetic while combining realistic and abstract visuals to create a somewhat romantic narrations among pieces. Fascinated with the idea of perceptions and memory, I create a visual imagery of moments or sentimental objects. Exploring the unreliability and vagueness of memory as something you made up to create a moment that is more beautiful than it actually is.
