About The Artwork

Under the title ‘From Village To The Virtual World’, my paintings open a window towards the rapidly changing world around us with digital and technological advancement, where real world seems to be imaginary and temporary and makes us a victim of escapism and lonliness. After living in city for so many years, when I visit my hometown, I feel sad to see the mud houses changed into brick houses, no more scarecrows posing in the fields with children playing around it , very few wells and handpumps , replaced by electricity transformers and wireless network towers. By composing clustered huts , old banyan trees, lost street games, in my paintings ,I have tried to bring my village back to life . I am profoundly influenced by the fact that we must keep alive the romanticism of village life which is a representation of simplicity, love, helpfulness and purity as the means of returning to our roots, for our following generations too. Despite a lot of variety in my paintings one common factor is the controlled rendering of facial expressions, an advance feel for colour balancing, hidden profile of animals and trees and subtle use of lines. Thanks a lot for stopping here

Born in 1986 and raised in the serene countryside of Rajasthan, India, I LSJ, am a visual artist, known for vivid and emotionally resonant depictions of various forms of life events, set against rural backdrops. After completing MFA in 2009 from Rajasthan School of Art, in Jaipur, I started working as a freelance artist and exhibited my paintings in many parts of India. Educated at the Rajasthan School of Art in Jaipur, I have always tried to fuse the traditional Indian art forms with contemporary techniques. My paintings generally feature rural landscapes, dotted with traditional huts, undulating fields, serving as a backdrop to the human stories I portray. My journey into art began in the lush fields and vibrant surroundings of my hometown, where I was deeply inspired by the spectrum of emotions and interactions within the close-knit community, a place where the rhythm of nature intertwines with the heartbeat of its people, I found myself captivated by the stories and experiences that unfolded in this bucolic setting. My works are a celebration of human connections, exploring the diverse facets of love from the innocent affection between childhood friends to the profound bond of elderly companions, infinite love, eternal relations etc. My canvases are alive with the rich colour of rural India, the fiery reds of traditional outfits, the deep blues of monsoon skies, and the golden hues of harvest fields. This vibrant palette is not just a visual choice but a metaphor for the intensity and variety of emotions in human relationships. With time and my life experiences my forms, backgrounds, figures, style keep evolving. I have worked on childhood memories, nature, virtual vs real world and more in my 20 years of art journey. Recently during a visit to [Name of the Place], I was captivated by a couple I observed. . Their unspoken bond, the subtlety of their interactions, and the way they seamlessly blended into the rustic surroundings sparked a profound inspiration in him. This encounter became the cornerstone of my artistic exploration, to portray the depth and diversity of love through his art. Also my figures are inspired by the style of clothing and headgear I saw in deities of a temple there. My art is a dialogue about the universal nature of love, transcending the rural-urban divide. Each piece is an invitation to the viewer to explore the depth and complexity of emotions like couples in love, love between friends and siblings that connect us all.
