bodies and shapes of the most diverse kinds and yet related - plants, insects, fossil, human figures etc. it is not about creating actual likenesses but rather about detouring and diverting. the painting is no mirror reflecting the object. it is a window to what is behind. the object hits the cornea and travels through it, through me and re-emerges, changed, interpreted, reflected. therefore it has become mine - and not what it was. the image now has become a gaze into a vague, unnamed space. a snippet, a snapshot, where bodies from various spheres float, sometimes entangled, interwoven. Intimacy and threat at the same time. perhaps in the process of a metamorphosis. grinding, wiping, scratching of the painted surface, of colors, shapes and material layers (canvas, paper) allow fragments of what is beneath to shine through. palimpsest.
