ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I use old instruction photographs as inspiration and try to give them a new meaning. I started with book about bandages, which I inherited from my father (who wanted to be a doctor, but didn't had the change to study) and after that I went collecting all kind of instruction books from the beginning of the 20th century. The pics I use somehow have to move me. When painting I try to emphasize that specific feeling. Like the the old pictoriallists 'painted' with photographs I like to catch the characteristic imaging features of the pictorialists, such as lightning and grain, in paint.
