ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The imagination offers a knowing comfort in challenging times and a fluid, lively pathway to another world. My work 'promises of tomorrow' was created during a period of extended isolation in Melbourne. This work is part of a collection of works made in isolation that are currently on display in my virtual exhibition Make-Believe on my website. This work borrows its methods from the abstract expressionists, a process of pouring painting on to raw canvas. I loved making this painting.

I love to experiment in my process of painting, exploring opposites like the spontaneous mark alongside the deliberate, dark colours contrasted with fluorescent pigments, masses of colour juxtaposed with fine ribbons or scribbles of paint. Compositions that offer no clear connection to reality or meaning, rather present explorations of painting compositions that may stimulate memories and create pathways to the imagination.
