Art Description

Painting: Acrylic, Ink on Cardboard.

This is the japanese/chinese character for SEA. I am living at the sea and I have a very special connection to it. For me it is like the pulse of life, it changes, it is alive. At the same time I perceive it differently - different mouvements, lights, colours... but it also mirrors my own being, the breathing of my soul.

I hope that this painting can help the viewer to connect to his/her inner sea-scape, the waves, the calmness, the energy. Maybe it can resonante, reflect and let something unfold.... who knows.

I choose japanese ink as the vital fluid of oriental calligraphy. But I am not japanese, so I dare to experiment. Adding acrylic colours helps me to express another aspects such as the energy or emotions I feel while painting.

My calligraphies are one-stroke paintings with the brush which is fuelled by my breath. But the flow of the brush has no beginning, no end, it derives from beyond, propagates through the artist, through the brush and lands somewhere on the medium, where it becomes visible before it again leaves the medium and continues its journey into the non-material world.
