The work is painted with oil and plasticine on canvas and varnished. In this exuberant expression of nature, I envisioned energy and vitality coming to life on canvas through vibrant strokes. About the Artist

Marina Klimanova

Kazakhstan

In my artistic practice, I act as a pioneer of psycho-digital expressionism—a new vector in art history that explores the tectonic shifts within the 21st-century human psyche. Operating on the borderline between tangible physical reality and the elusive virtual world, I create material portals into the digital era, where century-old psychological expressionism is reborn under the pressure of algorithms.

While the classical expressionists of the past century captured the traumas of the industrial age through the distortion of color and form, I manifest the digital deformation of the human subconscious. My primary medium and co-author is wood—an archaic, living material endowed with its own memory and history. I deliberately subject its warm texture to the cold logic of technology, forcing the wooden grain to imitate pixel grids, glitches, and system crashes. It is within this collision that the visual code of mental burnout, anxiety, and the inner insights of a human trapped inside gadgets is born.

My method lies in the monumentalization of ephemeral digital folklore and the hidden triggers of the mind. By confronting the natural flow of annual tree rings with the synthetic geometry of screens, I generate a hybrid plastic language. My spatial objects humanize the technological error, converting a fleeting matrix bug into an eternal physical artifact, and translating the internal chaos of our epoch into a fixed, monumental form.
