An interdisciplinary artist with an interest in methods of digital production (visual and ambient). Currently based in South-East London, Phett's practice centres around the interrogation of text, the body, and the spaces they occupy. Having graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2015 with a focus on corporate structures and their algorithms, Phett has a background in digital research to complement an IRL focus on large-scale abstract pieces. Phett’s practice sees its beginnings in the collecting and collaging of words; taking language as its origin, evolving its use and application through the lens of urban structures and violence. These words-as-stimulus are drawn from the spaces in-between: the dialogue of chatrooms, waiting rooms, sanatoriums. Words intentional and fictionalised, actionable and passing, are all materials in Phett’s work for street and stage alike. The sensuality of form and the evocation of words comes together in Phett’s work to produce a set of visuals which are at once visceral and nostalgic. Stylistically, Phett is inspired by the myth-making of Cy Twombly, the transcendentalism of Mark Rothko, and the corporeal and spatial obsession of Francis Bacon. As a designer for space and sound, they have worked and consulted on over two dozen theatre productions nationwide. Clients have included The Barbican Centre, Forge Architects, and The National Theatre. Phett has worked on several films as well as within fashion PR and advertising, and is currently affiliated with Raunkiaer Films, REC. Group, and Chickpea Films Ltd. Phett’s written work has been published in various outlets, the latest of which features as part of London group isthisit?’s recent anthology on surveillance culture.   Please get in touch via email for enquiries about NFTs.
