I was born in Warsaw, Poland in 1956. I have studied on the Academy of Fine Arts (AKI) in Enschede, Netherlands. After finishing my studies I have moved to Leiden, Netherlands, where I live and work. About my work In my paintings and painted wall-objects I switch constantly between connotations of microscopic, cosmic and realistic world. The images are constructed by fields of painted structures, network like structures, monochrome color and the organic/industrial contours of the objects. The painted structure fields and line networks that emerge during painting suggest so much… Sometimes it is clear that the field is painted; I use the paint as an instrument for creating a certain image. Sometimes I let the paint go its own way so that stains and different patterns emerge more naturally. The painted structures bring connotations of microscopic substances, cosmic spheres, distance and nearness. The combination and interaction between the different fields and different contours in one work create an ambivalent image in which the natural and the artificial become one. My work embodies the exploration of the natural, uncontrolled ways of material. At the same time it expresses a need to influence and control it.
