That's an odd situation, the spectator can't really find out what's happened here. Someone is lying in the sand, (is it a joke, is it an accident?), and in the first plan another boy is represented head down ( is he indifferent, is he sad?).The colors of the persons back are unreal, exaggareted as well what goes well with this misterious situation. The two bodies unified give a nice, independent form, it's like a very romantic landscape with the knee up in the middle of a very dry, desertic one. The other contrast is the supposed dramatic situation and the summer sun with very joyful colors. But I always have this feeling, that nothing serious can happen when the sun is so generous.
