ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Department stores, industries, block of flats, empty spaces, parking's, abandoned fields.. created of fields of color as seen form a bird's-eye view, some buildings seen in architectural prospective some in axonometric projection, few seemingly random details, all united by the magic of a silent equilibrium. An equilibrium that seems precarious but that at the same time invites to meditation and contemplation of a world apparently without time, without a beginning or ending. It's not an ideal world – it's elements are not beautiful or eye-catching - if you see them in industrial agglomerations or the big dormitory quarters of post-socialistic cities, they only seem symbols of a long gone or fake prosperity. But in the paintings they have been transformed by the spirit of the artist through a process of purification, simplification and abstraction and placed in a place without time, ascetic and silent (like some of the images by Stanley Kubrick). It is a place made of voids and solids, without movement, sound or time, but it is not a post-atomic landscape, life is present but its is standing still for a moment of contemplation. They are interior landscapes that come to life through a sophisticated use of colors, transparencies, delicate lines and simple shapes.

I was born in in 1978 in Warsaw where I have studied at the Art Academy specializing in painting and lithography. I then moved to Bologna where I continued to study at the antique Academy. Here, along with painting, I learned the art of etching. For one year I studied in Granada during my Erasmus grant to then conclude my academic career in Bologna. After some small exhibitions in Italy I moved to Amsterdam, where I currently live and work. I paint urban landscapes of places visited in reality or only in the reality of my mind.
