About the Artist

Tatiana Trunova

Argentina

My artistic experience is based on observation. I've been sketching my whole life. There is a habit of working in difficult, uncomfortable conditions. The themes of motherhood, childhood, genre scenes are close to me. There is some generalization inherent in images. Since childhood, I have been interested in the icon, archaism and the experience of other artists, often associated with an appeal to ancient art.
I was born in St. Petersburg, studied on Vasilievsky Island, now I live in Kolomna, and the theme of the City is close to me. I am also worried about the charm of the south, the sea, amazed by the oriental tale with its grapes, spices, carpets and mosques. The muse of the wanderings of Gauguin, Kipling, Gumilyov always attracted me too. On trips to India and Georgia, I constantly drew and there I realized that this is the most complete way of my perception of the world.
Winter is connected for me with St. Petersburg, and I always spent summer in nature, among goats, dogs, horses. So the village is another house I grew up in. There are periods when plots appear only from the head. The practice of drawing from life makes it possible to depict what is remembered and decides to manifest itself. This is a kind of selection, where chances are thrown away, where you can soar among your favorite images. Drawing is my main way of life, the way to myself, sometimes leaving myself, one of the main opportunities to be happy.
