Sean Hawkey is a documentary photographer and videographer. He made a number of portraits in the Sotrami mine in Santa Filomena, Peru, including this unique piece. Mr. Hawkey used a large-format camera and wet plate collodion technique from 1851 to produce tintype images using silver from the mine. His photographs have been syndicated by AP, Reuters and AFP, and published widely in newspapers and magazines, as well as being used by UN bodies and many non-government organisations. Recent publications of his photography include The Guardian, The Independent, BBC, New Internationalist, Science Magazine, Nature, Aftenposten, Deutsche Welle, NPR, the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Tass, Sputnik and The Economist among hundreds of others.
