Photography has been a hobby since the age of 15 when one of my uncles bought me my first camera for my birthday. I still have a few of the photos I took with this camera whilst visiting Swindon locomotive works in 1973. I have taken thousands of photos on a variety of 35mm cameras. In 2000 I bought my first digital camera and since then I have taken 10s of thousands of photographs. I have also become proficient in the use of Photoshop to edit and manipulate my work.
In 2004 I moved to Derby and studied commercial video and photography at the University of Derby obtaining a BA in 2007. In 2005 I directed a promotional video for a band called Black #5, this was played on several music channels in the UK. After finishing university, I set up a video production company and since then I have produced programs about steam locomotives and other railway orientated subjects. I have also been responsible for the production of promotional material for several bands, individuals and also companies throughout the UK.
I have had some success in selling my photographic work, in 2012 one of my photographs was used by the Royal Mail and in 2018 HR Records released a double CD by a band called Bleak house, a band I used to follow in the late 1970s and early 1980s. I was credited with all of the photos used in the insert.
In 2019 I got a grant from the Arts Council and bought a Mavic Pro 2 drone and started using this to access areas that I was unable to get to because of my disability. Since then, I have travelled around the UK taking many photographs and videos. I have found that the fixed lens was limiting me as the only way to “zoom in” was by flying the drone nearer the subject.
In October 2025 I have now updated to a Mavic Pro 4 drone and intend to use this to take many more photographs. The Mavic Pro 4 has a triple camera system, a 100MP 4/3 CMOS Hasselblad camera, and two telephoto units, a 70mm medium telephoto camera and a 168mm telephoto camera..
I hope that you find my work interesting. Please feel free to contact me if you wish to know
more.
