Themes of spirituality and faith inspire me, and in this growing series of images : Alaté, meaning 'having wings', I explore the human experience of metaphorical flight within the limitations of our groundedness. Each image invites contemplation of our inner life, the winged creatures connecting us to the aether, that spiritual realm between heaven and earth. The neutral palette is embellished with gold to catch the light and inspire closer attention, an allegory of our nakedness illuminated by our spiritual life. Beautifully printed on 310g German Etching, this open edition print, available in different sizes, is hand embellished by myself with metallic gold ink to attract the light and the eye, making each an individual, signed and dated by myself for authenticity. My entire process, from conception, the shoot, the editing and finishing details, I am personally invested in bringing an artwork that inspires a conscious and contemplative life.

South Africa
Annie Kruyer is an fine artist/photographer who finds expression, through the lens of her camera and the gift of art. Her poetic visual language roots its genesis in the inherent story of all things, the extraordinary beauty and diversity of the natural world and the shared experience of her evolution. 61 years old, born in Zimbabwe, home is now semirural Noordhoek, on the southernmost tip of Africa, where her days are filled with image making, from conception, framing and shooting in natural light, and many, many hours editing in what she calls her digital darkroom. Annie's fine art images are created to both influence and reflect a personal aesthetic, believing that the things we surround ourselves with and the spaces we inhabit and work in, should hold not only our material substance, but embody our interior life as well. She strives to evoke an emotional resonance that inspires both a conscious and contemplative life.
