Altar and Candles, Venice, Italy Photograph - Limited Edition of 45

This image was taken in a church in Venice, when I was there during the Venice Biennale in 2022. I had another photograph that I was exhibiting in an exhibition at the time, and I took many other images of the places I saw. This image struck me as interesting, because I love the juxtaposition of the classical past, with how many Catholic works include incandescent or fluorescent bulbs to light up a cross or the Virgin's halo. I often found it beautiful how this modern addition is at once kind of art deco and funky, kind of like the idea of the Velvet Elvis, but at the same time still holy and sacred, as people often feel around those works about Elvis too.
