This is a photograph that I took inside of an abandoned building, of what looks like to be an old school chair with a flip-up tablet arm. It inspired me from thoughts of the past -- of old memories of school. Thoughts of memories of long ago. This is a photo transfer (toner-based) into an encaustic medium, onto a broken panel board surface.

"My art is a combination of photography, encaustic, and painting. I transfer images directly into beeswax, and embellish with colored wax mediums I make from oil-based or powdered pigments. I enjoy the wide range of possibilities inherent in this technique - the evocative and distressed tones, and especially the additive and subtractive qualities that come along with the process. Through my art, I continue to express concepts of growth and awareness, and to promote the preservation of our external environment as well as the cultivation of our inner self."
