Ramya is a photographic artist based out of Bangalore, India. She likes to think of image making as a process that not only captures a moment as the eye sees it, but also reflects how the other senses interpret it. Drawn to the poetic elements of life, a good part of her work is inspired surrealism, daydreaming, and searching for stillness and beauty that lie between the lines of existence. Photography has been a passion and way of life for as long as she can remember, going back into her childhood days. She went on to study professional photography at the Light and Life Academy, Ooty, followed by intensive workshops at Santa Fe, Maine and New York City in the US. On the commercial front, Ramya likes to work with genres that include experiential lifestyle, interiors/architecture, travel, and all things sensory, bringing an atmospheric, soulful and elegant quality to her photographic work. A passionate about doglover, she actively volunteers to use her art to bring awareness to related causes. Over the last 4 years, she has been creating theme based yearly calendars for Compassion Unlimited Plus Action, an animal welfare organization based in Bangalore. She likes to divide her time between commissioned work and artistic pursuits.
