Arc of Light - Limited Edition of 10 Photograph

Walking in Washington Square Park late one night, I looked up as I so often do, just before entering a restaurant, and saw this image. Of course I saw the entire arc, but it would be too predictable to capture it whole. I honed in, tipped the iPhone and took this one shot. The light is so beautiful, but it is truly an accident since it was nighttime. The contrast with the black night sky and the cream color of the architectural detail is captivating to me. As often in my photographs, there is a geometrical pattern that intrigues me that to many viewers could easily be lost. They might just see an arc, but miss the detail. I hope this fact inspires your desire to look at the world more closely, look for what is not obvious because it is in the detail that lays the beauty and uniqueness. In the dictionary an arc is: 'a luminous electrical discharge between two electrodes or other points', and 'a part of the circumference of a circle or other curve'.
