“The photos were shot with a projector, where I create and adjust the artwork for the projection on the spot to match the model and composition. That is an intensive digital painting work process. I constantly switch between the role of art director and photographer. Such a photo session usually lasts an hour and a half and then I'm completely broken and empty, because I've created on two levels.” The female model out of the box. These works with projected patterns stand for the virtuality of the dictated habits and illustrate the potential ease to just step out of the dominating rules. Robin Noorda Short biography Robin Noorda studied animation, graphic design and photography at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy and the Rijks Academy both in Amsterdam. In the early eighties he was designer and animator for the public Dutch broadcasting organisation and pioneering computer animator at the first CGI studio in the Netherlands. In that period he also co-founded the art movement Tropism Art & Science Collective and his design company Morphosis. He is an independent filmmaker and animator. As an artist he is also active in experimental photography and interactive light installations. Photography He works in specific experimental fields of photography like projected pattens on models, infrared, ultraviolet, Kirlian photogrammes and 360º photography in his so called hyperbolics. Documentary A milestone was his Mongolia cross media project, consisting of the documentary film ‘Shivering Beauty - Soundscape of Mongolia’, the book ‘Transit Mongolia’ and the photo exhibition. A story about the harsh transition of a country form equal but unfree into unequal but free. Stop-motion animation films Other highlights are the stop-motion animation films ‘Red end and the Seemingly Symbiotic Society’ and Red-end and the Factory Plant, he made together with Bethany de Forest. Both earned many international awards and the first was nominated for a ‘Gouden Kalf’ in 2010. Most recent is the short film Rebirth of Venus. Curator The Tropism exhibition ‘Photosynthesis - shedding new light on plants’ is an international traveling art exhibition on the unknown worlds of flora. Photosynthesis exhibitions were held in the Hortus Botanicus Amsterdam, the the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh and in the Tropism Lab in the Flower Art museum in Aalsmeer. Noorda was initiator, curator and participating artist. Installations Interactive light installations were part of light festivals in Amsterdam (Netherlands), Norrköpping (Sweden), Shenzhen (China), London, Singapore and Sydney, the larges light festival of the world. Assignments For La Montre Hermès International Watches, an assignment was realised together with Bethany de Forest, they created a series of showcase and films that are exposed in Hermès shops worldwide.
