Arkalak and Eagle - Limited Edition of 25 Photograph

Limited Edition fine art photography print of a twelve-year-old Kazakh eagle hunter named Arkalak in the Altai mountains of western Mongolia. In keeping with an ancient Kazakh tradition, Arkalak learned from his father how to train and hunt foxes and other small animals with a golden eagle when he was ten years old. This Limited Edition of 25 print is produced on museum quality Hahnemühle Fine Art Paper with archival pigment inks and high-resolution digital inkjet printers, and is accompanied by a signed and numbered Certificate of Authenticity that includes the image location, date and caption, as well as a serialized numerical hologram. An identical matching hologram is attached to a signed edition label, which can be fixed to the back of the print or frame. Printed with 2 inch handling border. In October 2019, I travelled to western Mongolia to meet and photograph the iconic Kazakh eagle hunters and semi-nomadic animal herders of the Altai mountains. I set out to capture a collection of images that offers an artistic expression of traditional herding families’ lives and the relationship between the people, the animals they raise and the land their livelihoods depend on. As more and more families migrate from the countryside to urban areas, and with the increasing threat of climate change affecting the cultural heritage of Mongolia’s rural populations, it was a privilege to spend time with families whose strength and spirit is a source of continued inspiration.
