“I’m enamored by nature and her constancy for change.” Born and raised in northern Utah, Owen grew up surrounded by farmland and mountains. His early years were also spent exploring many art forms thanks to his mother and her insistence on participating in week-long, summer art camps. After living in Germany for two years, Owen graduated from Utah State University with degrees in both Liberal Arts and German. He then enrolled in Architecture school at the University of Utah where he honed his talent in design. In 2004 he pivoted from Architecture school to pursue a full-time career in art and design. Owen never lost his childhood fascination with artifacts of nature. He regards tumbleweeds, antlers, stones, and leaves as refined design elements. In addition to designing high-end home goods with objects of nature, Owen explores mediums of paint and photography. Regardless the medium, his work explores the union of minimalist design with nature’s raw forms and can be best described as Organic Minimalism.
