Jess Hon, the photographer, is a Malaysian born in 1957 in the village town of Alor Setar.

He sees himself as an unusual Tropical landscape photographer who believes that the beauty in any photograph lies in its uniqueness.

To capture something that is rather unusual and still eye-catching, the photographer must be able to " read" the light properly which is affected by the weather, the intensity of the sunlight and the time of the day. The other subjective factor that determines the beauty of the image is the composition.

Of course the angles from which the photographs are taken will contribute to the uniqueness of the images.

His focus is on Tropical landscape, a subject most people can relate to. The photographs taken over the last 19 years have these elements that nature provides: jungle and forest, hills and mountains, sky and clouds and streams, rivers and ponds.

He is self-taught in photography and the fact that he was born and brought up in the country he could see and appreciate the beauty of nature, particularly landscape.

He has taken about 27,000 photographs and out of which 20,000 were taken in the last 5 years.

Most of the photographs were taken in the state of Selangor where the photographer spends most of his time.

To stand out from the crowd, one must be brave to be different. The photographer likes to share with the whole world how he sees things with his own eyes, which may be very different from others.
