"The essence of Flaubert is that tension between epileptic lyricism and rigorous discipline. It’s that kind of passionate coldness that I wanted to adopt, without always managing it." Georges Perec When Georges Perec won in 1965 the Renaudot Award with his novel "Things: a Story of the Sixties", he create a big controversy by admiting that many paragraphs where copied from the novel "Sentimental Education", written a century ago by Gustave Flaubert. By means of this act, Perec wanted to become Flaubert. In this image, the original photography has been manipullated and Perec’s gaze has been transformed in Flaubert’s gaze, repeated ad infinitum.
