It is a metaphor of the difficulty to distinguishing reality and appearance. At first it seems the view of a square where people walk, meet and talk, casting their shadows on the floor. But in reality it is a collage of 6 photographs, 3 of which are mounted upside down. In the images mounted upside down the shadow stands, while the real person (distinguish by the color of the clothes) is stretched out on the floor of the plaza. Consequently, the collage shows people standing who meet and talk with shadows, and shadows who meet and talk with people. What it seemed so reality is only appearance, and just by looking closely we can understand what is true and what is not.
