Great Sand Dunes, Colorado, USA .……………................…………......………… ……The word “Ephemeral” describes the scene we have presented here. It did not exist when I first stepped onto this muddy sand flat during the pre-dawn twilight. These beautiful ribbons of flowing water had not yet arrived, and after swelling to the proportions of a river through the morning would be completely gone by early afternoon. ……After driving most of the night from northern Colorado I arrived here just as the morning twilight was beginning to delineate night from day. I walked out onto the flat to scope out my first composition of the day and very soon I saw a thin strand of water no more than 3 or 4 inches wide crawling very slowly directly toward me like some sort of liquid creature. This was an oddity given that from across the whole muddy expanse I was being personally greeted where I stood by this creeping crawling phantasm. if I did not move my shoes would soon be wet. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ …… I am citing the creation date for these newly released pictures as current, either 2018 or 2019 because that is when they were worked into their current state. This image was originally assembled in 2016. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ ......This new series of Black and White images I am offering have been given the “Ansel Adams” treatment. I have developed a technique for pulling clarity and drama out of the original image files in much the same way Ansel Adams did although my workflow is strictly digital. The final Giclee print is produced on a fine art luster finish, archival substrate for both the original prints and the open edition prints.
