ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Rome, Italy, March 2017 This is a visual expression of what being deaf is like for me. I often feel like I just get a glimpse of a fleeting moment before it has passed, this sometimes feels abstract and I have to make sense out of what is going on, quickly. I often miss detail and nuances in conversations and I am trying to convey this feeling in these photos. I am trying to engage the subject and background, using movement and light.

"Blurry Motion" is about showing what it’s like to not hear well. As a deaf photographer, I use my camera to share how I experience sound—through sights, not sounds. These photos are not clear, much like how sounds are not clear to me. This project lets others see a bit of the deaf world, where sounds are replaced with visual feelings. I hope to make people think about how we all see and hear the world differently.
