About The Artwork
It is early morning on Muizenberg Beach in the Western Cape and there are numerous surfers at this popular venue. Just to one side, I see this solitary surfer. All by himself, just standing contemplating the sea and thinking - about the waves or about life? I love this artwork as there are so many interpretations possible. It is also so calm and peaceful at the same time. The seabird flying past is a wonderful addition to the tableau. As with all my images I will produce just 20 copies. This fibre-based substrate with its smooth, silky surface has the properties typical of a classical barite photo paper.
