Photographer Dongmin Han studied Media and Communication (Photography) at Goldsmiths University of London and also have had experience working in the city before returning back to South Korea. With particular interest in semiotics, his works are not to be only appreciated by the eye as Han focuses on portraying free interpretation, allowing his audience to project personal meaning onto them. Furthermore, the photographs are printed onto Korean traditional handmade paper ‘Hanji’. The unique texture of the paper gives a distinctive colour to his works. Firstly, the photographs are taken. Then, he prints them onto the paper either using but touch on the computer or by hand. By collaborating the texture of hanji and the photographs with this technique, Han creates something more unique. The hyper realism of photos are transformed into picturesque images.
