About The Artwork

"Dark Roses" is a photograph I took in my neighborhood just before a storm rolled in. I chose to develop it in a Cyanotype format that was discovered in 1842 that was primarily used to produce copies of drawings or blueprints. This is achieved by coating watercolor paper with chemicals to make it light sensitive thus allowing me to develop a negative with the use of the sun to make a positive print. When washed the color turns a Prussian Blue or Cyan-Blue. After the washing, I bleach the print then place it in a bath of Tannic acid to tone it a deep eggplant / black color. I also added variegated Italian copper leaf to the print for accent. Details: Canson 140lb watercolor paper Variegated Italian copper leaf

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

I'm starting the second act of my life through the lens of my camera and an interest in the alternative photography processes from cyanotype, a historic process from 1842 where photography is developed in a cyan blue tone, digital intentional camera movement, where photographs look like abstract paintings, glitch, deconstructing photography, and digital manipulation of my work adding unique color hues giving an other worldly look to landscapes. I have a photography love of botanical, landscapes and items with lots of contrast and imperfections which makes for beautiful photographs. I love that after raising my two daughters, being known as mom, employee, wife, and care giver, that I am now a photographer and an artist.
