About The Artwork

Taken after a wonderful evening with the Missoula Symphony Orchestra. They set even the skies on fire, largely due to their musical director and inspiring conductor Darko Butorac, 2015. I try to capture (!?) the original sky’s grandeur in my Skies-Series experimenting with aperture and shutter speed and also trying to capture the specific structure of each of these wonderful skies. Even though I use a digital camera, I do not believe in post-shoot-editing for my Skies-Series: all photographs are as shot, no alterations, not even cropping. I chose a HD metal print for this rare evening sky. For a HD metal print, an inkjet print is transferred onto a just 0.04’’ (1 mm) thick aluminum panel in a thermal sublimation printing process ensuring the vibrant colors of the photograph stay radiant for a long time. The print has a glossy, brushed surface and the texture of the material shines through, especially in the brighter parts of the picture. The back of the aluminum panel has metal rails as a hanging system that is invisible from the front, but gives the picture a floating appearance (approximately 0.39’’ (1 cm) off the wall). This print is part of a limited edition of nine prints. Additionally, there is one artist's print. Each print is hand signed and numbered and comes with a certificate of authenticity, which is printed on Hahnemühle premium deckle edged paper with watermark and fluorescent security fibers. Both the artwork and the certificate of authenticity have an identical serialized numbered hologram ensuring that each certificate belongs to one particular photo print only. Due to production and shipping times, please allow three to four weeks for the delivery of your artwork within the US. International shipping might take longer. I am intrigued by skies. There are days when I could do nothing else but watch the sky above me. I am fascinated by the vague abstractness of what I see. Colors ranging from a deep summer blue to other shades of blue often tinted with whitish clouds; grey in all shades; warm reddish, orange and pink hues when the sun sets and so much more… I never tire of skies. They are never the same. There is no rationality only feeling. At best, they make me forget about every day hassles and leave me with a feeling of inner peace and calm.
