Abbaretz mine began to be exploited a long time ago, from Gallo-Roman times, for tin. After a pause of several centuries, mineral companies decided to prospect there at the beginning of the XXth century before. It is these mining residues which today constitute the 70-meter high slag heap. When it is in the open air, the ore oxidizes and it releases the metals it contains: iron, manganese, cobalt and arsenic that causes these red and acidic waters among the trees in the surrounding of the slag heap. These pictures were taken in winter at sunrise. Printed on Hahnemüle Fine Art – Photo Rag Baryta 315gsm 100 % Cotton. Print size : 50*75cm centered on a 60*90cm paper. Handsigned and numbered by artist in pencil. Delivered with a certificate of authenticy. Please contact via Saatchi if you have any further questions regards alternative sized editions and formats. Thank you for watching Hoping you will like it.
