For me being an artist is not a choice it is fundamentally who I am. I cannot remember a time when I was not drawing, painting or writing. I found photography, the main source of my artistic expression, when I took a beginning class at the community college I attended. In short photography is my passion. I received a BA in photography . What I love most about photography is that it gives you the ability to freeze time and record a moment that cannot be duplicated. It is the nature of time to be constantly moving and evolving so that every second is different from the previous second. Photographers are like magicians when they capture a fleeting moment, expression or gesture. For me, photography is an endlessly fascinating subject to explore and study. Another aspect of photography that I find interesting is the ability the photographer has to capture the essence and some kind of truth of a particular subject. This truth can be reality or fiction, but it does exist as captured by the photographer. The camera can peel back layers to reveal something that allows the viewer to go deeper than the superficial, and draws them into the world of the photograph to create a sense of intimacy. My photography allows my visions and ideas to flow from my mind out into the world to create dialogues with the viewer in a way that I hope will engage their interest and get them to ask questions about the work. I am always composing images out of the most mundane, sublime and spectacular subjects as I move through the world. For me subject matter is all around if we only take the time to really look and comprehend what we see. I also create moments in realities that are alternatives to our own, I am fascinated by the idea that we create our lives and our realities and I try to capture this in my work. My photographs are like a visual diary of my inner life made tangible.
