My name is Israel Shouraki, a nature and floral photographer based in Ashdod, Israel. I stumbled upon this passion by chance about five years ago, when I upgraded my phone and decided to invest in one with a good camera. What started as casual phone photography quickly evolved into a full-blown artistic venture. I soon purchased a Canon M50, followed by a Nikon Z5, and my collection continues to grow, now including also six vintage lenses that inspire my artistic direction, in addition to my wide lenses collection. I focus primarily on capturing the beauty of flowers and nature, often through an artistic lens that blends vibrant colors and soft forms. Coming from a family of painters, I naturally infuse my photography with a painterly quality. I often edit my photos to give them a more artistic look, occasionally converting them to black and white if the mood calls for it. While landscapes captivate me with their grandeur, they often require travel that isn’t always possible. Flowers, on the other hand, are ever-present and offer endless opportunities to capture the essence of natural beauty. Wandering through nature is magical, and even though photography is still a passion and not my full-time occupation, I often find myself looking forward to the golden hour during my workday. That special time of day, when the light is just perfect, is when I truly come alive, ready to step out and immerse myself in the enchanting world outside. I sometimes transform my photos into digital paintings using tools like Procreate, before printing them and adding acrylic paint for a unique mixed-media effect. I also maintain active profiles on Instagram and Facebook where I regularly share new pieces. For me, photography is more than capturing beautiful flowers or landscapes. It’s about reflecting an inner beauty that I believe in profoundly. I understand that true beauty comes from within – it’s in the kindness and goodness of people’s souls. My aim is to use the external beauty of nature as a mirror, a tiny reflection of that deeper inner beauty. I hope that when people see my work, they not only find it visually pleasing but also feel a connection to something more profound – a beauty that flows from the inside out.
