Based on a childhood memory of playing with the cat, not knowing how the cat might feel. It is about the balance between gilt and innocence, the contrast between clean and dirty, warm and cold.

Germany
I was born in Neu-Ulm, Germany, went to art school in Karlsruhe and made my Staatsexamen in 1975. I started out as a painter and began 1976 to work three dimensional in an abstract and minimalistic way. In 1983 I moved to Berlin, where I am still based, but also lived in Paris, New York and on Tenerife. I was working on wall objects build from painted wood panels and started 1991 to design these objects with 3d programs. This led gradually from real to virtual objects and printed images of objects (prints from 1996). Virtual landscapes followed from 1998. In 2000 I discovered programming and made my first software art: programs that simulate the creative process of the artist and produce still and animated images. Since 2016 I introduce figures in my landscapes and building environments. I was always fascinated by art from the 19th century and earlier and I am happy today to connect my work to art and skills from before modernism. I am constantly learning new ways and skills and consider my work as experimental and developing rather than establishing a corporate stile.
