About The Artwork

A small Tibetan Buddhism chorten erected at the entrance to the Everest Nature Preserve to help keep travellers to Everest safe. This sort of chorten (also called a stupa in other forms of Buddhism) comes from the Kalachakra Tantra and is not symbolic of the Buddha's life, but intended to protect against negative energies. Taken with my Nikon F100, using Kodak Ektar film, in late January on the Tibetan Plateau at around 4,900km (~16,000 feet) with an average temperature that day of -20C (without the windchill). Awards received: Architecture Masterprize - 1 x Honorable Mention International Photography Awards - 1 x Honorable Mention These prints are made to order with the image printed full size (ie no border/white space). Each print comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and is numbered and signed in pencil on the reverse by the artist.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

As a visual artist my creative practice is rooted in my love of photography, capturing images that evoke a reaction in the viewer. It started with my first camera – a Kodak 110 instamatic – progressing through 35mm to Polaroids and 120mm film; ‘going digital’ while lecturing at university in the 1990s using Apple’s QuickTake and the Kodak/Nikon DCS. Having worked as a freelance photographer and journalist for a number of years, I joined the BBC on the business side which allowed me creative freedom with my photography. My work has so far received 75 awards, been selected for six exhibitions and will feature in The World of Photography book in 2024. I was also invited to join the Advisory Board for The British Journal of Photography to help steer the company through its digital transformation in 2020 & 2021. My creative practice today uses a bewildering combination of traditional film cameras, instant cameras and digital equipment to capture my images; depending on the look and feel I want. The image is just the start of the process as I experiment with different printing, media, mounting and framing techniques to create my pieces. I also use my photos to create mixed-media pieces, screenprints and visual collages.
