ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Work belonging to the “Memories of Forgetting” Project. This is an abstract black and white photography project that explores the complexity and emotional impact of Alzheimer's disease. Through a series of carefully composed images, the project seeks to capture the ephemeral essence of memories and the progressive disconnection from reality that characterizes this neurodegenerative disease. The use of black and white is fundamental in this project, as it reflects the gradual loss of nuances and the simplification of reality experienced by Alzheimer's patients. Shadows and stark contrasts symbolize fragments of memory that fade and moments of clarity that emerge fleetingly, only to be devoured again by darkness. Each photograph is a visual metaphor for mental disintegration, using diffuse shapes, intentional blurs, and texture overlays to create a feeling of confusion and disorientation. The images are presented as fragments of a whole, incomplete, sometimes broken, imitating the fragmentation of memory in those who suffer from Alzheimer's. Printed on 310gsm RAG Photo Etching "Museum" paper, 100% cotton, acid-free and without optical brighteners. Unique work with a stamp that guarantees authenticity as well as signed on the front and back.

Photography is the fundamental basis of my work, both in traditional photography and in interpreting and investigating other pictorial techniques. Basically, most of my work is done in black and white, using different supports, paper, wood, cardboard, fabrics, etc,... I use photographic emulsion on wooden supports as well as transfer and acrylics. My way of seeing photography is to unify the photographic technique with the plasticity of matter and paint, it is my challenge. As is the case of my latest works where the use of the chromatic masses of the photographs are transformed into compositions of geometric abstraction, much more plastic.
