This ethereal image was created using Canna Lily flower buds, handpicked at the end of summer, when the garden was becoming bare and only a few petals remained. This capture was the result of a playful experiment with colour, light, depth and movement. It was worked from behind, directly on top of the scanner and the surprising result looks like the flowers are floating under water. I love the mix of focussed and unfocussed elements, it draws the viewer in to take a closer look and has a calming effect, just as nature intended. I then use Adobe Photoshop to edit the final image, many hours go into cleaning up the loose particles of dust and pollen, enhancing the sharpest details and grading it to draw you in. Every time I look at this image I see something new, just like when I’m exploring the garden, I hope you will too. This is a limited edition print of 30 mixed sizes, no more than 30 total will ever be printed. Choose a size that suits your space best. Your print will be produced to the highest standards and Giclée printed onto premium 310gsm archival smooth cotton rag with a matte finish. It is signed, numbered and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity, which guarantees your print is a work of art. A1 image size (59.4 x 84.1cm / 23.4 x 33.1inch) Prints are carefully packed rolled in a protective cardboard tube. Printed in New Zealand. Please allow 2-5 working days for printing and 3-10 working days for international shipping via tracked courier.

Last year, I began creating botanical images to capture my father’s beautiful Wairarapa garden. All the flowers, leaves and seed pods featured are grown by him, handpicked and arranged in my own playful way, then captured through the photographic art of high resolution flat-bed scanography, followed by many hours of digital retouching to bring the images to life. My limited edition art prints preserve the transient beauty of nature through the seasons and celebrate all stages of a plant’s life cycle. I hope others can experience the calming effect nature has on the soul, to see its beauty through my eyes and enjoy it forever in their homes.
