View In My Room
An early fall evening on Douglas Lake in Tennessee. Standing on the deck of my boat with the sun to my back, I panned the camera to create this impressionistic image. As a child, I remember being fascinated by the vision of motion. Sitting in the back seat of the car, head against the window, my eyes focused on a single, ever changing spot racing past, transfixed me. It was an abstract, flowing vision that had wonderful linear patterns and colors and created a mesmerizing effect. “Flow” is a series of images that recaptures the sense of hypnotic motion I viewed as a kid in the back seat of the car. A sense that you know what you are seeing, yet you don’t. A sense of familiarity and strangeness all in the same gaze. A world of color and motion... all while my perceived state was motionless. This image is a motion-blur of the setting sun from a balcony looking West near Mallory Square. It is printed on Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308 with Archival Pigments. The image size is 40 inches x 40 inches with a 2" border for a final work that measures 44 inches x 44 inches. Signed and numbered on the front, it also comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and is shipped in a crush-resistant tube. You can also acquire the image in various open edition sized prints with a choice of framing or as a gallery-wrapped canvas.

Marc Ward is a Florida born artist that resides in the mountains of East Tennessee. Though he now lives on sloped ground, much of his work is still shaped by the expansive views of his home state’s flat land and water. During the 70’s and 80’s his three dimensional work was exhibited in numerous group and solo exhibitions including the Smithsonian Institute’s Renwick Gallery. The 90’s and 00’s saw he and his wife Kathy, operate their own gallery that represented the work of 150+ artists and craftspeople. Also, during this period, Marc started a firm that produces equipment for potters, sculptors, glassblowers, and metal casters.
