Born in Latvia, raised and educated in Moscow and presently living and working as a visual artist in Florida, Irina is attracted to the challenges of different subject matters from the exploration of the physiological challenges of portraiture to the complex political and social consequences of regime change in Post Communist Russia or an attempt to probe the sensibility and techniques of pictorial aesthetics at the turn of the 20thcentury. Irina began photographing professionally in 1996 while living and working in Eritrea, North Africa. She was covering stories on HIV orphans in Eritrea and later in Guinea, West Africa. From 1999 to 2001 she spent two years living in China and one year in the Russian Far East working there as a freelance photographer. Upon returning back to the USA she enrolled in an MFA program in photography and graduated in 2007 from the Maine Media College, Rockport, Maine. Irina is actively involved in the art events of great Miami area where she is presently resides, she is a resident artist in the Bakehouse Art Complex. She has participated in the group shows at The Boca Museum of Art, Boca Raton, Baker Museum of Art, Naples, FL, Bienes Rare Book Collection. Her work participated in Miami Art Fair, Toronto art Fair, Affordable art Fair, Agua Art Fair and numerous group shows. Irina's projects were featured in Verve Fine art Gallery, success stories of the Fotofest Houston, Diffusion magazine, Photo Eye Newsletter, the project "Red Colors of Disillusion" was in the international magazine Zoom published in Moscow and in The Miami Herald and Sun-Sentinel newspapers. She is represented by the Modernbook Gallery, San Francisco, CA, Catherine Couturier Gallery, Houston, TX and The WIT Gallery, Lenox, MA. Her works included in the Arthur Jaffe Rare Book Collection, NOVA University Permanent Collection, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts Printmaking Department Collection and several important private collections
